Daisy Pulls it Off. Will we?

Monday, March 24, 2008 @ 10:17 pm.

How positively ripping! We're doing an English schoolgirl play set in the 1920s! Oh, wouldn't that be topping!

The problem with this play, it seems, is the absolute lack of a plot. Daisy Meredith is a full-fledged Mary Sue.

This is a quote from a review:
The play itself, and by this I mean the written play and not Hatfield’s production, was dire. The plot was about as transparent as French toilet paper. The dialogue was trite and uninspired and the characterisation was a mathematical impossibility, scoring well below one dimensional. But, and this is quite a substantial but, it was a fantastic production.

To give you a rough idea of the plot, and really, no great length is needed. Elementary school girl Daisy acquires a scholarship to attend Grangewood School for Young Ladies. Whilst at the school she suffers the plottings of Sybil Burlington and her doting follower Monica Smithers who feel it is their duty to keep the school clear of Elementary school types. She hears of its financial difficulties and vows to seek the treasure hidden somewhere within the grounds of the school. However she has a competitor in this, Mr Scoblowski, the enigmatic Russian music teacher. The play comes to a head when she cracks the clues, finds the treasure, rescues Sybil and Monica from certain death on a cliff face, finds her missing father is the mysterious janitor, and also the heir of the estate to which Grangewood belongs AND wins the hockey finals for the school. All whilst being locked in the Sanatorium after being set-up as fraudulently winning the poetry contest, cheating on a Geography test and stealing a rare book from the library (not exactly Shakespeare is it? – ed.)

The dialogue was horrendous and yes I could have scrawled the entire plot of the second half on the back of a napkin in Hatfield bar during the interval. But even the fact that the characters somehow manage to have less depth and conviction than a Blyton novel didn’t matter one bit. This was an absolutely wonderful production.

Among other things, Daisy Meredith has (not grammatically correct)
The list goes on. On and on and on. Maybe.

I know what roles my classmates and friends would want to play. All the characters are set into these roles:
I have no idea what will happen and I prefer not to speculate.

ONTO OTHER THINGS

I cut my finger on a knife. Mr Tay was right: It really does bloop out like that. (A year ago he was describing how a girl, while doing dissection, chopped off her fingertip and the blood went bloop bloop bloop [he mimed it]. He was joking about chopping it clean off, but still.) Amazingly it's only the second time it's happened in my entire life. The first time was in Primary Two when I tried to open my friend's bathroom's magnetic shower door. There was a whole lot of blood. All I remember was that it hurt and I didn't dare to open it again.

My sister cut and straightened her hair. She has a side parting now, and a fringe, and straight hair somewhere around the neck and shoulders. I dread the day when it becomes curly again. It may not turn out well.

It looks nice now, anyway.

BACK TO THE PLAY

We get the script on Wednesday. I can't wait, because I always can't wait for such things. I do feel rather demoralised based on the things I've heard about the play though.

Hm. I have nothing else to talk about. Farewell!

See My Name in Lights

Tuesday, March 18, 2008 @ 9:42 pm.

1. Use fanfiction.net's Search Story By Summary and look up your name in Harry Potter
2. If there are any Mary Sues that share your name, pick the worst-sounding ones and post the summary. (I didn't do this. I just picked everything I could)
My name is just so common. It's a noun too. So, yes. Here I go.

As Harry starts another year at Hogwarts, he notices that Madison Adams & Grace Elliot, 2 Americans, have joined the school for a year of study. Horrible things begin to happen after the 2 girls arrive. Could Grace and Madison be working for the dark side

Grace has left everything behind, never turning back. She is running from the terror which will not relent in its pursuit of her beloved son, who is the key to all evil. Just when Grace feels safe she learns to never say never...Sequel to The Return and N

Grace Owens is a quiet woman who has just moved to England from Wales in 1995 and meets someone who helps her get through city life. When it all comes down to sink or swim Sirius realises he's really saving Grace...

Evva Elizabeth Grace. A name few people have heard. Evva ended the war. She was the ending. This is her Lullaby.

Grace is a pupil of a dark Master. She is strong, but will she be strong enough?

Grace's life sucked before three mysterious people turned up changing her life forever. (The title of this is Grace Black.)

When Grace is five she's kidnapped by Deatheaters. Not just any Deatheaters, but by the Malfoy's, who think she's their kid. Follow her as she remembers and finds her real family once again. PostWar. Grace's POV. AU fic. Rated M for strong language.

THE best SBOC story on Emily Grace is new to Hogwarts and she is ready to put her past behind her. But can she escape her future too? Can Sirius and Emily Grace ever have a future together?

There was a title that said "Being Grace Diggory"

Grace Aglaia has a lot of problems in her regular life, but add Hogwarts, secret admirers, mysteries, plus her secret crushing on a Slytherin boy, how much more complicated can it get?

Mature rating, simply because of how it starts out, and I want to play it safe. Pettigrew's arrested, Sirius is cleared, and Grace Potter is living with her godfather. Perhaps romance, perhaps not. Under a major rewrite.

They thought they were safe. They thought the terror was over. They were wrong. And now, will Grace have to pick up where her parents left off and claim the Dark Mark as her own? Sequel to Never Turn Back

Ms. Beatrice Grace Partoy is in love. With who you ask? Read and find out. Also find out how well she reacts to hearing something she doesn't want to from the one she loves.

We where just two muggles. But, we made a differance. Follow Rachel and Grace as they give Dumbledore an exploding chocolate frog, kiss Snape, and discover all kinds of magic, in the books and out. Summary sucks, please read: Fred x OC , ? x OC

When Rose and Hugo Weasley's magic becomes a problem at her muggle primary school. Enter Grace Hoffman, a Cambridge grad with a degree in Education and a knack for household spells. Oh, and has a weakness for redheads. George/OC

What happens when two American exchange students make their way to Hogwarts? Two bike riding, Blink 182 listening, Trenton girls? Follow the adventure of Grace-Anne and her sidekick, Noreen, in all of their romantic and often dangerous escapades!

This is the story of an original character named Luna Grace Corrona. Just read it, please. Note: A tried very hard not to make this a Mary Sue. I welcome construcive criticism, but please refrain from being overly cruel. This is my first story on fanf (SCORE! KUDOS TO THIS ONE)

In a world where Voldemort triumphs, Hermione Granger and Charlie Weasley's self identities are in danger. Both must struggle for all they fight for...even it if means joining their enemies. HrD. Chap 8: Hermione Gets to know Grace...and Draco.

Grace never thought there was anything special about her, she was just another regular orphan. Until the day the Dursleys brought her home. With family crawling up all over the place, can the Potters finally defeat Voldemort for good?

SEQUEL TO I BET I CAN! Picks up after the epilouge. After a run in Draco begins to question if choosing Grace was the right choice after all. Hermione is trying to move on with her life but can't seem to get a certain blonde wizard out of her head. R&R!

Uhhuh -shrugs- I don't read Harry Potter.

It was rather interesting, nonetheless.

I skip church today.

Sunday, March 16, 2008 @ 11:54 am.

I'm not very sure how this happened, but it happened anyway. As it turns out, my sister is sick, she's going to the doctor this morning, everyone either woke up late or just made time to go to the doctor this morning, and they're going to the two-o-clock service while dropping me off at [cchiaranus]'s place earlier.

Sooo, I skip church today, which means I have about an hour to prepare to leave.

HOMEWORK LIST (ripped off YH's blog)
Chinese zhou ji review thing - Nope, haven't done it yet. It's due next next week and I can't digest the book.
DONE: LS readthrough
LS worksheet - I didn't bring my file home. Doing at recess and before school
EDIT-DONE: Art writeup - HAHAHA! I HAVE FINISHED!
DONE: Social Studies - Oh, no big. It was just... copy-paste.
DONE: Math - Long since. I have a sign change error I just can't get rid of, though
Haiku - Oh no. That. Not yet. I have an idea on what I'm going to do though.
Chemistry AB - I am not going to do this. Please.
DONE sort of: ISO - AFTER FOUR HOURS OF HARD RESEARCH I HAVE 10 PAGES OF 11 pt CALIBRI.
History Test - -.-
Chinese Test - -.- -.-
DONE: Psychological Analysis for LA - Pretty much done.
LA Competitions - You seriously think I had time?
GEL CARD: I've finished the first page and it's due next next week. Or at least Friday.

I NEED TO PRINT EVERYTHING. GAH. I don't even know if the printer's working anymore. It's like a dog. Snuggle on your feet one minute, then claw your face off the next.

Ah well, signing off now. I have a lot to cover.

It seems I've suddenly hit the eye of the storm.

Saturday, March 15, 2008 @ 10:30 pm.

We've been having a lot of homework this holiday, and all of a sudden I find myself with absolutely nothing to do.

It's happened a lot recently, but once this is done I'm going to end up with a lot of homework again. I wish this wouldn't happen one day before school reopens. I cannot rush things on Sunday. Especially now with the printer being broken.

But now, I'm going to do a quiz I ripped off my classmate's blog because she tagged me. I use online monikers though. You should be able to recognise your own.

Pass this quiz to ten people which you wish to know how they feel about you.

1. YH, the person who tagged me
2. My sister (alias Sabre)
3. 360
4. Harusuki
5. Jelly
6. My brother, who doesn't have an alias
7. Aurelia, who doesn't have an alias
8. Fifikia
9. CSJY
10. Kid(9535)

Who is having a relationship with 6? (My brother)
My brother is still eight years old. He's had a lot of 'girlfriends' in his time. Seriously, once he wanted to marry me. But he also wanted to marry the air conditioner.
Is 9 a male or female? (CSJY)
Female
If 7 and 10 are together, will it be a good thing? (Aure and Kid)
No. They're both reasonably straight.
What is 2 studying about? (Sabre)
She's not studying right now. But she takes Art.
When was the last time you chatted with 3? (360)
Yesterday.
What kind of music does 8 likes? (Fifikia)
Hmm, not very sure
Does 1 have any siblings?(YH)
EDIT: No. Sorry.
Would you woo 3? (360)
I'm straight.
How about 7? (Aurelia)
I said, I'm straight.
Is 4 single? (Harusuki)
I believe so. If you hooked up with the gacha guy while I wasn't looking, 'fess up.
What is the surname of 5? (Jelly)
I don't reveal personal information online. I know, though.
What is the name of 10? (Kid)
I SAID.
What is the hobby of 4? (Harusuki)
She is a "schoolgirl by day, mapler by night". But I know she watches anime too. And recently she's taken on animated GIFS.
Does 5 and 9 get along? (Jelly & CSJY)
I believe so.
Where is 2 studying in? (Sabre)
My school.
Where is 9 staying? (CSJY)
In the same country as I do.
What colour does 4 likes? (Harusuki)
She's never expressed an acute hatred towards any colour, I think. Except maybe pink.
Are 1 and 5 close friends? (YH & Jelly)
They know each other.
Does 7 likes 2? (Aurelia and Sabre)
What do you mean by like?
Does 1 has any pets at home? (YH)
I don't remember. Sorry!

Losing My Edge

Sunday, March 02, 2008 @ 3:01 pm.

If you don't wanna read depressing and paranoid stuff (the pink stuff) that I'm probably going to end up wondering about ("why the heck did I post this") later, scroll from this part to the next green part.

You know at some point in your life you suddenly find your calling? Something you know you're good at? Something you're destined to do? All my life I always thought that writing was going to be a very major part of my life. And for some reason, I'm losing confidence in that niche.

I don't think the Commonwealth Essay has anything to do with it, or at least not directly. Not being selected is not important. I never liked Class C anyway; I'm looking forward to being able to start on Class B. Ahaha.

Somehow it got me worried. I mean, what would one do if there was something she thought she was good at, and then she found out that wasn't true?

Obviously they'd be sad. But I've been writing for almost all my life. If that was taken away goodness knows what would happen to me. Ever since I was young I placed being somewhat "superior" or "special", as in, standing out of the crowd just a little, in top priority. My dream was to get a prize on Founder's Day. It still is. When I found that something I was good at, I was so happy. Every time my teacher read out my composition or printed it for everyone to see, or selected it for a competition, my heart would leap inside. I know one should be happy when they get credit for something, but it seems that I've had an overbearing sense of pride.

It's not like this has happened already. But...

Ah ____ this. Never mind. I can't get my thoughts straight. SKIP TO BEYOND THE GREEN SECTION.

This is the next green part. Carry on.

CJ7 was disappointing. I didn't get the ending at all. I mean what, all of a sudden a thousand and one CJ7s come to replace the dead one? What's that supposed to mean, true friendship can be replaced? Bad morals, Stephen Chow. Bad morals.

Ah well.

I really should be doing my homework now so I guess I'd better go.
