Honey Water

Monday, March 30, 2009 @ 9:53 pm.

Sore throat...

Today I had a sign on my desk: "GRACE HAS A SORE THROAT AND CANNOT TALK LOUDLY."

I think I'll put it up again tomorrow.

I went to the doctor today. He says there's nothing wrong except the sore throat.

I want to miss school.

What does that say about me?

My sister made me honey water today.

I didn't bring my Chinese textbook home.

Does anyone want to bargain with lao shi to do the test on Thursday?

I guess not.

Tracks of My Tears

Friday, March 27, 2009 @ 8:32 pm.

People say I'm the life of the party
Because I tell a joke or two
Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
Deep inside I'm blue
So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears

Outside I'm masquerading
Inside my hope is fading
Just a clown
Since you put me down
My smile is my make up
I wear since my break up with you

So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
The tracks of my tears
I need you, I need you
I need...

League

Thursday, March 26, 2009 @ 8:10 pm.

Thursday (you can find Wednesday on Carolyn's blog if you want; it's essentially the same thing)

Before school

Went down to the bamboo courtyard to see if anyone would show up. No one, though. Nearly fell asleep with my head on my knees.

EL

Speech, mainly.

Found out what the countries were for RMUN: Egypt and Denmark.

NOTE TO SELF: PRINT OUT POWERPOINT SLIDES!!!!!!!

Philo

Organ trading, in preparation for the SBL later.

When Ms Newall was talking about conceiving one child to be the donor for another, everyone was whispering "My Sister's Keeper! My Sister's Keeper!"

Hehe, seems like I'm not the only one who likes that book. Jodi Picoult is pretty darn good.

Lit

I wasn't there for the first Hilda Taba, whatever went on, and today Mrs Ng gave us two poems to compare/contrast and then answer questions.

Compare/contrast is hard, because you need to come up with criteria or categories to classify them with. Like structure, or content, or tone, or attitude (??), or anything.

Shannon: Oh, I have no marbles...

Eh, repeat of the lost-my-marbles saga?
(as in there was one time I brought marbles to school and then dropped them, so Charlotte said "Grace, you lost your marbles!")

Jean is an interesting person to discuss things with 8D

Physics

Mr Liu didn't assign work, so after finishing the Tutorial everyone just sat around doing nothing much (other than mindless chatter ;D).

Recess

Jelly wants to do one of the texts Mrs Ng gave for YAWP!. It's called Paper Planes, but I didn't get that text, so I don't exactly know what it's like.

The ones my side of the class got (the night shift and Song of the Red Cross) aren't as much performance poetry. Maybe they are, but not sure about it.

HCL

Spent much of the lesson trying to decipher a passage of traditional Chinese lao shi was displaying on the screen. I didn't read it aloud... leave that to the experts ;D

After that, Glenda was saying "Do you want to write that down? She said something about one to five..." but I had no idea o_o I either wasn't listening or was too tired for some reason.

I figured out what it was in the end, though; she was dividing up the ke wen into three parts and so on.

Math

More coordinate geometry. It's quite interesting, but I can't remember the length of a line segment formula.

ES

Spent at least fifteen minutes staring into 3T, putting our watches against the window, and much confused motioning to Jelly through the window with Stephanie and Nicole as well as us usual SW girls. Mrs Ng was rather pissed that teachers (and us) were taking up so much time D:

Anyway, we've been given a sort of break due to SYF, thanks Mrs Ng ^^

She asked me whether I had lost weight D:

I haven't actually. Really!

Lunch

Ate (with everyone playing with the lunchbox-tupperware-cylinder thing), then spent the time waiting for the dental appointment.

NOTE TO SELF: STOP FLICKING SHERALYN'S HAIR!!!!!!!!!

Dental Appointment

By far one of the most painful I have ever experienced. It's not really the sort one can forget either... sigh. I still sorta remember it.

The dentist says that my teeth must be really sensitive D: And other than that, my gums are a little bad, mostly though neglect DD:

Anyway.

SBL

Came in 15 minutes late to find a seat next to Mrs Ng; I couldn't find 3G until Felicia stood up to answer a question.

The lecture's the best I've seen yet (I've only been to two so <_<). The speaker's really good, really knowledgeable, and really frank and truthful. I admire him.

It's not something that one can see often in MGS, eh.

Anyway, Mrs Ng turned to tell me to tell the RMUN girls to buy court shoes. That was when I asked her which teams were getting which countries; she just said to follow the list, so...

After SBL

Ate two pizza slices and three samosas.

As it turns out, Jean wants Denmark (though Jelly wants Egypt), and our group wants Egypt.

I found out Egypt has PRESS CORPS so yeah, I want it too

Jelly and Tze Shien want it too, though.

Then hung around in the trellis with Carolyn, Lau, Hui Xian and Jerusha before going back.

American Idol was today =D Adam Lambert was really good.

After American Idol

Went and checked the list, and it turns out that our team (MGS 1) is assigned to Egypt.

As it turns out, Egypt and Denmark have the same councils, except that Egypt doesn't have ECOSOC2 for Press Corps.

Anyway, I should be studying for History.

mindless chatter

Monday, March 23, 2009 @ 10:39 pm.

Chapel

Went down to the Bamboo Courtyard to see if anyone at all would turn up for warmups after what happened during Drama week last week.

But no one came.

Met Carolyn going up to the gallery; apparently she got lost ^^~. The band was good today, and so was the message... but yet I feel that there is so much more that could be learned from The Last Supper. I just have to find out what else there is.

Bio

Marksheet; again, my predicted two A2s and rest A1s (see previous post on marks), so quite happy with that.
Ms Lau passed back the slips of paper thing that only 3G would have any clue of. Anyway, I didn't know if we were supposed to do anything so I drew a smiley face in pencil for no reason.
Seating arrangement change; I'm sitting with Glenda now. I think it's the first time ever that I'm actually sitting in the second row. I don't really mind, except that it's a little weird to see the whiteboard and it looks like whiteboard-whiteboard-whiteboard-Wendy's head-whiteboard. But I can still see, so it's okay.
Other than that, went through Bio worksheets etc.

(I don't call Glenda Gand for some reason... I think last year I just didn't want to, and I doubt I'm going to change that now)

Literature

Glenda doesn't take Full Lit so I had a vacant seat again. I think Jardena or Jeanette was going to take it, but Jean was the first to get there. I guess it's because Eleanor's sitting in front :D

Anyway, we were supposed to start on Hilda Taba today, so we were getting into groups to do a class Hilda Taba (grouped with Carolyn, Jelly, En, Tze).

Seriously, I was almost certain that the entire exercise would be a complete flop.

If we're supposed to classify things based on Higher Order Thinking, how on earth can we do it with 20-30 people that we likely only know half of? And how are we supposed to find out which happy little group we belong to BESIDES the groups we usually engage in MINDLESS CHATTER with without actually DISCUSSING amongst ourselves to find out exactly where we belong OUTSIDE our little chat-spheres?

Yun Hua didn't think she belonged anywhere. My sentiments exactly.

Still, most of the lesson was taken up, as many of you might have heard, with the mindless chatter episode.

It amazes me how absolutely all adults can find things to say and target towards us for a solid hour, and how they are almost visibly pausing and looking around and finding something else to say.

Still, after that, I went back to my seat and came the closest to crying in public as I have in quite a while.

I'm so sorry, Mrs Ng. I'm so sorry.

Stayed in at recess to prepare for the Chinese presentation.

HCL
Chinese presentation.

SS
British healthcare, by Mrs Raj.
Somehow I like the chapters that deal with outside countries. Maybe it's because Singapore is a young country, and it's interesting to see what the older countries did.

It's hard to imagine, sometimes, how the government of a welfare state doesn't lose money caring for their citizens.

If those people moved to, let's say, Singapore or anywhere that isn't a welfare state, how would they survive?

Physics
Mr Liu was happy today. Which reminds me, I need to go look up those lens and wave simulations.

HCL
More Chinese presentation. Spent the time looking through Audrey's UglyDoll book and drawing things on the page of my notebook.

I'm not going to discuss anything else.

Colour Personality

@ 8:31 pm.

From ColorQuiz.com

Your Existing Situation
"Organized and detail-oriented, she has a very precise and methodical manner. she needs relationships which offer her understanding, respect, and approval."

Your Stress Sources
"Always trying to make a good impression on others, but doubtful she is succeeding. Feels she has the right to everything she hopes and dreams of and becomes annoyed and helpless when things don't go her way. Is troubled by the very thought of failure which leaves her feeling miserable. Always sees herself as the victim as if everyone treats her poorly and she never is given her fair share. Feels her failures are no fault of her own, but due to the shortcomings of others."

Your Restrained Characteristics

"Seeking to broaden her horizons and believes her hopes and dreams are realistic. Worries she may not be able to do the things she wants and needs to escape to a peaceful, quiet environment in order to restore her confidence."

Conceited and is easily insulted. Holds back emotionally but is able to find satisfaction through sexual activity.

Current events leave her feeling forced into compromise in order to avoid being cut off from affection or future cooperation.

Your Desired Objective
"Needs peaceful surroundings. Looking for relief from stress, conflict, and arguments. Tries to control potentially harmful situations and arguments by treading lightly. Is sensitive, emotional, and has an eye for detail."

Your Actual Problem
Disappointed because her hopes have not come to pass and she fears coming up with new goals will only lead to further disappointment. These conflicting emotions lead to a feeling of anxiety and depression. she tries to escape into a peaceful and calm relationship which offers encouragement and protection from further disappointment.

Your Actual Problem #2
Lack of energy leaves her unnoticed to pursue further activities or demands placed on her. she feels powerless which leaves her agitated and depressed. Tries to escape from her struggles by searching for peaceful and restful conditions in which to relax and recover in an atmosphere full of security.

I don't know, I don't know.

Some parts seem pretty true, but some are so off.

I don't believe that failures are all because of other people.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that I'm always the one at fault.

But these "colour personality" things are supposed to be how others see you, and not how you see yourself.

Do you really think I'm like that? Do you?

Tender Innocence

Saturday, March 21, 2009 @ 4:39 pm.

I've finally decided which book to use for the Chinese thing and I don't care if it's considered too simple or anything. It's just that the way the author writes somehow conveys the childlike innocence that he felt when he was young. It's quite amazing, really.

"Vanity of Vanities, All is Vanity"

Friday, March 20, 2009 @ 9:42 pm.

So tired.

Even though we only did two runs today, we spent at least three to four hours either doing makeup/hair or waiting for makeup/hair to be done.

I was the only Fury who was actually able to finish the whole of warmups D: (I mean the rest didn't have time)

Anyway, I think the makeup looks pretty fantastic, especially the face. I don't really like the hair much, but I guess it fits, and hopefully it looks good on stage.

I still can't get all the makeup off; I've left the orange and black around the eyes for later. It looks pretty. I'd take a picture, but the camera on this laptop doesn't have good lighting, and doesn't look nice.

Meh.

After that Mrs Chew had an interview-survey thing in the staff room, and she took it before I could remove my makeup D:

I don't know, even though it was supposed to let the surveyors gain insight, it sort of helped me gain some insight too.

She likes Ecclesiastes too =)

After that I ran to the hall where I found that my stuff had been left outside the presumably locked doors -- thanks guys ^^

See, I've been travelling
Been travelling forever
But now that I'm home
Feels like I'm in heaven

vapour in the wind, vapour in the wind, vapour in the wind

Fear God and keep his commandments
for this is the whole duty of man. (Ecc. 12:13b)

The Travelling Song

Wednesday, March 18, 2009 @ 9:40 am.

I’ve been around the world, in the pouring rain
Feeling out of place, really feeling strange
Take me to a place, where they know my name
Cause I ain’t met nobody that looks the same

I’m a fish out of water, lion out of the jungle
[He a fish out of water, lion out of the jungle]
I need my peoples, my peoples, take me to my peoples
THEY GOT JUNGLE FEVER, SHOW HIM SOME LOVE,
SHOW HIM LOVE.

Could I have someone, could I have someone,
To relate to, to relate to
Could I have someone, could I have someone,
To relate to, to relate to

See I’ve been traveling, been traveling forever
But now that I’ve found a home,
Feels like I’m in heaven

See I’ve been traveling, been traveling forever
But now that I’m home,
Feels like I’m in heaven

See I’ve been traveling, been traveling forever
But now that I’ve found a home,
Feels like I’m in heaven

Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven, heaven

Traveling the world, like a touring man
Been around the planet in the foreign land
I’ve seen things that I’ve thought I’ve never seen
Take me to a place where they live like me

I’m a lion out the jungle, fish out of the ocean
[He’s a lion out the jungle, fish out of the ocean]
I need my peoples, my peoples, take me to my peoples
THEY GOT JUNGLE FEVER, SHOW HIM SOME LOVE,
SHOW HIM LOVE

Could I have someone, could I have someone,
To relate to, to relate to
Could I have someone, could I have someone,
To relate to, to relate to

See I’ve been traveling, been traveling forever
But now that I’ve found a home,
Feels like I’m in heaven

See I’ve been traveling, been traveling forever
But now that I’m home,
Feels like I’m in heaven

See I’ve been traveling, been traveling forever
But now that I’ve found a home,
Feels like I’m in heaven

Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven,

Feels like I’m in heaven
Feels like I’m in heaven
I’m in heaven,

Oh and I’m feeling right at home
Feeling right at home
Feeling right at home
[I’ve been around the world]

Feeling right at home
Feeling right at home
Feeling right at home
Feeling like I’m in heaven,

It’s like I’m in heaven
It’s like I’m in heaven
I’m in heaven

It’s like I’m in heaven
I’m in heaven
It’s like I’m in heaven
I’m in heaven

Oh yeah

(Will.I.Am - Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Soundtrack)

You know, all emotions can be classified into two categories: content and discontent.

Happy is content. Sad is discontent. Or even content, if you think about it.

So technically, there can be no such thing as a "new" emotion. Because somehow, it gets wrangled into one of those categories.

No matter how we feel that we're alone in suffering something, someone has been there, someone has done that, and our own little problems just aren't big enough to count for anything.

The next time you feel like you have a problem that's too big for you, bring it to someone else.
Because there's a big chance that that someone would find that problem just too small, and solve it with a small, easy miracle. No, make that a huge chance.

Of course, asking God would be the easiest, because He can do everything, can't he

Donut

Monday, March 16, 2009 @ 10:52 am.

Spent the afternoon and all night and all morning yesterday and today sewing Drama costumes.

I don't know if it's satisfactory, but I can't find anywhere else to sew more shred things on, so maybe it's enough.

Sigh.

Resolution

Saturday, March 14, 2009 @ 4:44 pm.

Like Carmen, I'm not posting my CT marks to boast or pity myself. It's sort of like compiling everything, so that I can reflect on it. If you don't want to read it, skip the small font.

English: 19/25 (76%, A1)
This is my default mark for Comprehension. So, never mind.

Chinese: 25.5/35 (72.9%, A2)
Frankly I'm surprised, but one can't really go wrong with marking Comprehension. Xie Lao Shi is so lenient (when I get 60/70 for a Compo it's rather obvious!), I think that's the main cause for the gap between the classes in the Chinese grades.

Physics: 29/35 (82.9%, A1)
I'm happy =) It's my best Science.

Chemistry: 27/35 (77.1%, A1)
I don't mind this one, except that I made a few stupid careless mistakes.

Biology: 26/35 (74.2%, A2)
For this one, well, if I had put in the CORRECT answer for one of the questions in MCQ that I had marked down on my question but not the answer, I'd have gotten my A1. I got an overall A1, but still.

Literature: 20/25 (80%, A1)
Mrs Ng was standing there when I was waiting for my turn to get the paper, and she told me that even though I have no problem writing fast, I have to stop retelling the story because really, it's not going to do any good. (Even so, I keep doing that because I think I'm not providing enough evidence D:)
Combined with Mechanical Hound (17/25), I get an overall A2 =/

SS: 13/15 (86.7%, A1)
I don't mind this one either, though my SBQ, as always, needs work.
I'm glad I managed to write a "well-argued" conclusion, though, since I haven't been able to do so in both SS and History previously.

Elect. History: 21/25 (84%, A1)
I was expecting to fail, so this was really a surprise (Jelly would know, she was sitting next to me)
I still can't do a good conclusion, though. L4 for both.

Aaanyway. On to other things.

RMUN Briefing
I'm half-excited and half-scared. I really want to do Press Corps! But even if our group did get into Press Corps, whether I'd get to do it is another story.

I'm not sure whether I'd make a good debater... can I rebut properly? D:

After that I was sleeping in the car (with breaks to pick up brother from a friend's house and going to Parkway Parade) almost the whole time until now, which is why I'm still in my school uniform.

NOTE TO SELF: Learn how to write a resolution!

Stitch

Wednesday, March 11, 2009 @ 1:41 pm.

Cross-country today.

Considering everything that happened, not too bad. B Div started at 08 30h (although it ended up starting at approx. 08 45 or something like that, according to Sheralyn) so Jelly, Xing Xing, and I (Shannon later) were squatting in the large sandpit/sandbox scattering sand ("ashes", said Jelly). After that, Xing Xing, Shannon and I went to the lookout point to look at the sea. The waves didn't even look like waves, but digital lights or something.

Shannon said some of the water looked muddy. I think it's just the colour of the underside of the bridge.

(And Xing Xing, it's okay to call Angelica "Jelly". At least, you'll get used to it in time (: )

I was planning to run with Xing Xing, but she decided to take a rest and I didn't wait for her. After that I just gradually slowed down until I met up with Zhi Lin, who apparently had let Juliet run ahead too.

I had a stitch, which as I've mentioned before, is the main reason why I can't run very far (I usually don't feel physically tired before I get it). As it turned out, Zhi Lin had one too although she handles it better than I do =)

Shame! With all the abdominal work we do in Drama I should have gotten over stitches by now.

Thanks, Zhi ^^

We ended up finishing in around 22 minutes or so. Zhi insists that if I hadn't found her, she would have given up running; I don't think so, though.

Olson won overall, yay!

Okay, I don't have much to say right now.

Defying Gravity

Saturday, March 07, 2009 @ 5:27 pm.

Glinda:
Elphaba - why couldn't you have stayed calm for once,
instead of flying off the handle!

I hope you're happy
I hope you're happy now
I hope you're happy how you
Hurt your cause forever
I hope you think you're clever

Elphaba:
I hope you're happy
I hope you're happy too
I hope you're proud how you
Would grovel in submission
To feed your own ambition

Both:
So though I can't imagine how
I hope you're happy right now...

Glinda:
Elphie, listen to me - just say you're sorry...

You can still be with the wizard
What you've worked and waited for
You can have all you ever wanted...

Elphaba:
I know...But I don't want it - NO - I can't want it
anymore...

Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes and leap

It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
And you can't pull me down...

Glinda:
Can't I make you understand, you're having delusions of grandeur...?

Elphaba:
I'm through accepting limits
'Cuz someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But 'till I try, I'll never know
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love - I guess I have lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost

I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down...

Elphaba: Glinda, come with me. Think of what we could do - together.

I'm Limited
Together we're unlimited
Together we'll be the greatest team
There's ever been, Glinda,
Dreams the way we planned 'em

Glinda:
If we work in tandem

Both:
There's no fight we cannot win
Just you and I
Defying gravity
With you and I
Defying gravity

Elphaba:
They'll never bring us down...
Well? Are you coming?

Glinda:
I hope you're happy
Now that you're choosing this...

Elphaba:
You too - I hope it brings you bliss

Both:
I really hope you get it
And you don't live to regret it
I hope you're happy in the end
I hope you're happy, my friend...

Elphaba:
So if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
As someone told me lately -
Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me -

Tell them how I
Am defying gravity!
I'm flying high
Defying gravity!
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No wizard that there is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!

Glinda:
I hope you're happy!

Citizens of Oz:
Look at her, shes wicked!
Get her!

Elphaba:
...bring me down!

Citizens of Oz:
No one mourns the wicked
So we've got to bring her...

Elphaba:
Ahhhh!

Citizens of Oz:
Down!

I don't know what's wrong with me

Thursday, March 05, 2009 @ 8:13 pm.

Today when I tried to eat dinner everything tasted like sand and I could feel everything clogging up in my oesophagus instead of being swallowed. I could feel out the individual grains of rice in the back of my mouth.

And after that, I just felt nauseous, and my dad said that I felt warm even though my temperature was only 36.2 degrees, and now after a bath I don't feel much better.

He says to sleep early.

I don't think I can manage that.

Wednesday, March 04, 2009 @ 10:39 pm.

Every time someone shows me something I have to be all impressed and enthusiastic but whenever I show someone something they get to go "Oh, okay, finished!" and then they go away and watch their own clips and they get to be all enthusiastic about it all because they like it.

Treaty of Versailles

Monday, March 02, 2009 @ 6:45 pm.

You know, sometimes it's easier to remember things when you have an emotional attachment to them.
I mean, you remember your sister's or your mother's or your dog's birthday, but you wouldn't remember the birthday of Georges Clemenceau or a rock if you didn't know anything about them.

I have my own opinions about the Treaty of Versailles.

Big Three

From my biased, schoolgirl, Singaporean perspective, I think that the Big Three were pretty much idiots.

For one thing, they were all inherently concerned about themselves and their own circumstances were the main factors in their diktat for Germany, right? Which shouldn't be that way. They got Italy, Japan and whatever to join them for discussions but in the end it was all down to them. At least they should have asked Germany first.

Georges Clemenceau: Wanted to make Germany suffer. They were conquered at Franco-Prussian, and then Germany got crushed in WWI, and then now Georges (and France) wanted to make them pay and pay hard. I don't agree with that, personally. Germany may be evil and aggressive and whatever you want to call it but there are people in there that need their food and need their land and need their money. If they don't want Germany to attack France again, they didn't need to cripple Germany as a country, where all the commoners suffer for the government's mistakes.

Woodrow Wilson is okay. I'd go with his ideas on the treaty. But it looks like the main reason for his stand is because USA was only in the war for the last few months or so. They didn't suffer. So does that mean that if they did suffer, they'd root for a harsh treaty too? It would be so petty if they did. It's logical, though, that the harsh treaty would result in a war. It did, didn't it?
He's also an idealist. He has his self-determination and international co-operation ideas and his Fourteen Points but obviously no one adhered to those. Everyone looks out for themselves, and in the end Wilson had to, refusing the LoN membership that he supported. Sigh.

And yeah, I do think Germany should be blamed for the war. But it wasn't her own fault.

Lloyd George is strange. He agrees with Woodrow Wilson that harsh treaty would lead to war. They had their disagreements but at least they agreed on the point that I agree to. The thing is, how could Lloyd George have promised to the people that Germany would be punished really harshly, if he himself did not believe so, and only wanted her to be punished justly? Sure, the people wanted it and if he did it might make him PM the next round but it was a lie, and he had to compromise himself. And, if he had a harsh treaty obviously Britain and Germany wouldn't trade again. But then again, Germany was already hopping mad that they weren't involved in the Treaty discussions after that. So I guess that didn't work out very well.

Terms of Treaty

Territorial
I think that the territorial terms of the treaty were just enough. They still left Germany the biggest country, which means they might still have a fighting chance (if only they had slackened off on the army and economy then WWII might have been earlier). Sure, Alsace-Lorraine would be given back to France. France wrote the Treaty after all. Eupen and Malmedy went to Belgium, Northern Schleswig to Denmark, West Prussia and Posen to Poland. And Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia (Austria-Hungary), Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania (Russian), and Poland (From German-Russian land) were formed. Most before the treaty, mind you. But that's all... stuff. Look. Alsace-Lorraine and the Saar Coalfields (which of course went to France [actually the LoN but the profits went to France so there isn't much difference]) were important resources and industrial areas. Germany, although it's considered grand perpetrator, is still a country. A country needs economy. It needs food. It needs to survive. Taking all her colonies (And giving them to France and Britain of course) and her resources and everything and stripping her of her imperialistic pride (literally 无地自容) made me want to cry.

Military
I think the Military terms were logical. Restriction to 100000 long-serving professionals, no conscription, no airforce, submarines, armoured vehicles, 6 battleships for Navy, and demilitarised Rhineland (of course, the land between Germany and France). Yay. No more great German army. Let Germany cry. At least they can't attack. But, they couldn't even defend. And that was just terrible.

Financial
It all sounds so perfectly logical at first. 6.6 billion pounds of reparations to France and Belgium (and Britain too) for war damage, therefore crippling Germany's economy and therefore erasing all possibility of it attacking. But, and I say this from the naive mind of a schoolgirl, isn't there some way to just take away military power, but still allow Germany to survive?

It's all the vengeful minds of the people.

Anschluss
Forbidden union with German-speaking Austria. Uh, great.
This part was like the loss of a good friend and ally, one of the rare ones, since Germany had lost her war. Even less chance of Germany getting back up. Yay.

Clemenceau, Clemenceau, Clemenceau.

War Guilt Clause
I have nothing to say about this.

Effects of ToV on Germany/Europe

Economic Problems
This is self-explanatory.

Strong Resentment against New Democratic States

Obviously! If they stopped the war while Germany could keep on fighting then maybe they wouldn't have lost and thus wouldn't be in this mess. So people would follow politicians who promised to strengthen Germany again, like HITLER.

Europe
Creation of New States
Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Austria, Poland, Yugoslavia. And Baltic states got their independence (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia). So yay.

People showed support for parties committed to getting rid of restrictions imposed by treaty
Like HITLER'S NAZI PARTY.
Geh.

German Reactions to the ToV
Contrast with Fourteen Points
Personally, I think this was sort of a sub-resentment, because they would have probably preferred the Fourteen Points to the mess that they were in. I mean, who doesn't want self-determination? And they're already resentful that Germans are stuck in foreign land.

Feelings about War Guilt

Of course other counties should share the blame! It's not like Germany was the only one fighting. It's Clemenceau influence, I bet.

Feelings of Injustice
They didn't lose the war, technically. They laid down arms voluntarily. Yet again, they wouldn't be able to fight any more. But the fact is they did lay down arms voluntarily. So they ended the war, not lost it.
I couldn't figure out why Germany was not involved in the punishment thing. Even though people usually don't mite out their own punishments because it would invariably be too lenient for everyone else, it's a COUNTRY. With more people, and some people might not even have been so responsible for the war. It is so a Diktat. I'd hate the people who do things like that to me. In this case, Weimar Republic, the November criminals. Backstabbers.

Feelings about disarmament
They made Germany disarm, but didn't go by the Fourteen Points AGAIN and kept all their fancy weapons. Obviously Germany would feel shortchanged, so they sunk their ships in Britain's Scape Flow.

Feelings about Reparations
It killed their economy. It inflated the economy. The amount had to be adjusted in the end because they were so so high.

Feelings about Loss of German Territories
Again, imperialist pride. They resented it. Germans were taken away from their land and dumped in foreign counties. Saar got taken by France, and the African countries which they were so proud of were given to France and Britain. It's like giving away your house, or something, and then people sell it and do stupid things to it. Whatever.

Feelings about LoN

Obviously they would feel insulted that they weren't invited to join. It is the League of NATIONS after all. If you're not invited, being such a powerful nation, then you're considered not to be a nation any more, I suppose.

Like being demoted to a house pet. Being dehumanised. Not worthy of the rights every human/nation should have.

If I made a movie on the Treaty of Versailles it would be the most dramatic thing you'd ever see. I am so pro-Germany.

What we have is worth fighting for.

@ 4:58 pm.

I was staring at Chemistry and wondering how there can be so little to study in six chapters when my mother passed me a plate of waffles.

I was staring at it and was like "Is this all for me?"

And she said, "Yeees."

I've eaten a quarter already. Those things are pretty small.

Catching Lightning

Sunday, March 01, 2009 @ 11:27 am.

I've always been fascinated with science fiction. I don't know why, I just have. I think it started with Spy Kids. I found it really cool. Then Terminator 3. Then the Matrix. Then science fiction books. And so on.

I cried twice yesterday, both for thirty seconds, in an interval of five minutes. Don't ask me why. I just thought I'd put it here.

My sister's doing Masks as her Art Coursework.
